Welcome to Dancesteps

Expert tuition in all aspects of dance

Dance classes in all aspects of dance for children from the age of two up to adults.

Children are welcome to start at any age and any time throughout the year. Children can learn to dance from as young as two years old. At this level Children are learning to dance from as young as two years old. At this level Children are learning to dance with the emphasis on “fun”. At the age of five, children are then invited to participate in the schools annual Examination sessions, which we hold excellent 100% results.

A vital part of Dance training is “performance” and each year the pupils work extremely hard to produce the annual school show, which is always tremendous success.

My aim is to provide my pupils with a teaching standard that benefits the prestigious RAD and ISTD syllabus and to ensure that all pupils are protected from the damage that can result from incorrect teaching - most importantly that they are allowed to progress at the correct speed.

At Dancesteps pupils learn to dance through expert tuition with emphasis on lots of fun and enjoyment for everyone involved.

About Miss Kerry

At the age of 2 I took my first Dancesteps. As a child I attended the Fenn School Of Dance (now Tina’s), Royal Ballet School Whitelodge and Hammond School.

At 16 I successfully auditioned for the Northern Ballet School and graduated three years later, gaining Distinctions in all my teaching exams. In May 2000 Dancesteps was formed and the rest as they say is history.

My aim is to provide my pupils with a teaching standard that benefits the prestigious RAD and ISTD syllabus and to ensure that all pupils are protected from the damage that can result from incorrect teaching - most importantly that they are allowed to progress at the correct speed.

The past year has once again seen the pupils efforts rewarded with excellent, 100% examination results of which we are all very proud.

I am currently in my sixth year as the Vice Chairman and Greater Manchester Representative of the Royal Academy of Dance Committee. Over the past three years I have had the priviledge of becoming a Free lance Tutor for the Royal Academy of Dance. This has enabled me to teach students up to vocational standards throughout the UK and worldwide with the Academy. I am a Mentor for the Royal Academy of Dance - enabling me to coach and guide students from all over the world to gain their teaching qualifications, and have recently been asked to become a Practical Teaching Supervisor for the Academy - this now gives me the opportunity to Examine Student teachers throughout the nation and World wide thus being responsible for their future Careers.

Testimonials

  • My daughter Isabel has attended Dancesteps for the past five years. Miss Kerry has taught and guided Isabel successfully through her exams and four wonderful shows. Isabel has made many friends and her love of dancing from ballet to ballroom grows stronger each year. Isabel loves her lessons and looks forward to them each week. Her confidence in her abilities has been carefully nurtured by Miss Kerry, who brings out the very best in Isabel.

  • My son and daughter have been dancing at Dancesteps for six and nine years respectively. Miss Kerry?s exacting standards and enthusiasm has meant that neither has attained less than a merit in their exams. Both especially enjoy the excitement and chance to show off their all their hard work when it?s time for the annual Dancesteps Show.

  • My daughter Grace is seven and has attended Dance Steps since she was three. Starting out with tap and ballet classes she has now progressed to include disco, river dance and ballroom. Grace is currently working towards her grade two ballet exam and while challenging she enjoys the whole experience. The children receive excellent lessons, encouragement & support from Miss Kerry. The school has a friendly welcoming atmosphere that radiates from the staff and children. However as a parent the most important thing to me is that Grace loves going to Dance Steps she has made alot of friends, she enjoys her lessons loves her teachers, and her dance skills are improving all the time. Her dancing is not only helping to keep her fit and healthy, attending her lessons and the experience of taking part in the school shows which she loves is also giving her confidence.

  • Kleio joined Dancesteps when she was just two years old and was hooked from the very beginning. From my observations over the last five years I could wax lyrical about your sympathetic approach, being impressed by your teaching style and the attention and care you show to each and every child. However, it takes a special individual to have such an impact on not only the aspirations and dreams of one little child, but actually to influence and guide her as she learns about the world and develops her character. Kleio not only views you as a teacher, she respects and looks up to you and that’s an innate ability that is seldom found. I would personally like to thank you for all you have done and look forward to Kleio’s continued technical and personal development under your tutelage.

  • I love going to Dancesteps! Miss Kerry is the best teacher; she always helps me and makes me feel proud of myself. I have great fun and I have lots of dancing friends, but my favourite thing is the show, which always makes my mum cry! When I grow up I want to be a ballerina! Thank you Miss Kerry,

  • Dancesteps has been an invaluable part of my young daughters lives. I have 2 daughters aged 13 and 10 they have both attended Dancesteps since they were 4 years old. During the last 10 years they have grown into confident, competent, disciplined dancers to the credit of Miss Kerry. Miss Kerry has always provided high quality teaching to an exemplary standard in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere and both my girls thoroughly enjoy their dance classes and the annual dance show. They have made a great many friends at Dancesteps and have been successful in all their dance examinations. I cannot thank Miss Kerry  enough for the support, encouragement and professionalism that she has always shown myself and my daughters.
