Expert tuition in all aspects of dance
Dance classes in all aspects of dance for children from the age of two up to adults.
Children are welcome to start at any age and any time throughout the year. Children can learn to dance from as young as two years old. At this level Children are learning to dance from as young as two years old. At this level Children are learning to dance with the emphasis on “fun”. At the age of five, children are then invited to participate in the schools annual Examination sessions, which we hold excellent 100% results.
A vital part of Dance training is “performance” and each year the pupils work extremely hard to produce the annual school show, which is always a tremendous success.
My aim is to provide my pupils with a teaching standard that benefits the prestigious RAD and ISTD syllabus and to ensure that all pupils are protected from the damage that can result from incorrect teaching - most importantly that they are allowed to progress at the correct speed.
At Dancesteps pupils learn to dance through expert tuition with emphasis on lots of fun and enjoyment for everyone involved.
About Miss Kerry
At the age of 2 I took my first Dancesteps. As a child I attended the Fenn School Of Dance (now Tina’s), Royal Ballet School Whitelodge and Hammond School.
At 16 I successfully auditioned for the Northern Ballet School and graduated three years later, gaining Distinctions in all my teaching exams. In May 2000 Dancesteps was formed and the rest as they say is history.
My aim is to provide my pupils with a teaching standard that benefits the prestigious RAD and ISTD syllabus and to ensure that all pupils are protected from the damage that can result from incorrect teaching - most importantly that they are allowed to progress at the correct speed.
The past year has once again seen the pupils efforts rewarded with excellent, 100% examination results of which we are all very proud.
As well as running Dancesteps I have had the opportunity of being the Vice Chairman and Greater Manchester Representative of the Royal Academy of Dance Committee. I have also had the privilege of becoming a Free lance Tutor for the Royal Academy of Dance. This has enabled me to teach students up to vocational standards throughout the UK and worldwide with the Academy. I am a Mentor for the Royal Academy of Dance - enabling me to coach and guide students from all over the world to gain their teaching qualifications, and have recently been asked to become a Practical Teaching Supervisor for the Academy - this now gives me the opportunity to Examine Student teachers throughout the nation and World wide thus being responsible for their future Careers.
Groove in Tune
GROOVE IN TUNE is the perfect opportunity to take children on a journey and let them explore creative movement and song, through their own play. Whilst being taught technique and basic dance skills without knowing it as well as rhythm and keeping fit.
GROOVE IN TUNE allows each child to develop in their own way through creative movement, songs and dance, without knowing it and placing a strong emphasis on FUN!! Sessions are targetted at children aged 2 - 5 years and are run in conjuntion with private day nurseries - we come to you and run classes on your premesis.
Providing the basic building blocks for the transition stage from pre-school to Primary school, GROOVE IN TUNE helps with the governments ‘’Healthy schools’’ incentive and helps to build on the child’s social skills. Each week will be based around a different journey for example a trip to the seaside or even an adventure in the jungle, allowing for the child’s creativity to seep through and by using everyday actions allows the child to associate and cope with real life events and tasks again using dance movement without knowing.

My daughter, Evie, started Dancesteps, aged 2. From the moment she started, she was instantly hooked! Evie now lives and breathes dance: she does ballroom, ballet, tap, riverdance and disco. She is looking to add even more styles to her repertoire: she would come to dance classes everyday if this was possible. She even had her birthday party at Dancesteps! Having the opportunity to take part in dance exams has proven a beneficial learning experience for Evie, helping develop skills also needed in school life. Her highlight of the year is performing in the annual dance show. Evie gets such a rush of adrenalin from being on stage and is growing in confidence each year. She delights in the fact that she can showcase all she has learned to her family and friends. I am so proud of her . The annual shows have also captured her love of theatre, and Evie is now a regular theatre goer, usually of musicals that have been performed in the dance show.
She loves being a part of the Dancesteps family. Everyone is so friendly and supportive; Evie loves them all! Thank you Miss Kerry and Miss Emily for continuing to inspire Evie's love of dance. She never tires of dance and remains enthusiastic to this day! xxx -
My daughter Isabel has attended Dancesteps for the past five years. Miss Kerry has taught and guided Isabel successfully through her exams and four wonderful shows. Isabel has made many friends and her love of dancing from ballet to ballroom grows stronger each year. Isabel loves her lessons and looks forward to them each week. Her confidence in her abilities has been carefully nurtured by Miss Kerry, who brings out the very best in Isabel.

Our eldest daughter has now been at Dancesteps for 3 years and our youngest for 18 months approx. They both absolutely love it and are constantly dancing around the house and forever doing their own ‘shows’ for any ‘willing’ viewers! Apart from the hours of fun and exercise, for our eldest it has also meant, great strides in confidence for her – the teachers have been wonderfully patient and understanding in nurturing and guiding her – thank you!
In addition to the pleasure that we get from watching them both grow in self esteem and dancing ability, we can also feel confident in the fact that they are getting expert tuition in a safe and fun environment. We look forward with anticipation to this years (real!) show, and this year for the first time, will have ‘twice’ as much to be thankful for!!! Thank you Dancesteps! x -
My daughter has attended miss Kerry's dance school since her second birthday, in the space of ten months she has shown to have grown socially, physically and most of all in confidence. She looks forward to every Saturday and learning something new. Not a day goes by when she doesn't ask "is it Saturday yet?" :) She is due to take part in her first ever show this year. To be given a chance at the age of two to perform in such an amazing show is more than I could have ever wished for. Ava has not only learnt how to dance she has learnt how to listen and respect others. Kerry shows so much support for the little ones at this age and always encourages they dance to the best of their abilities. Which makes this such an enjoyable and comfortable place to leave my child to grow and learn with such fantastic company and teaching

My daughter has been going to Dancesteps since the age of 3 and it is the highlight of her week. She not only enjoys going but also gains valuable dance and co-ordination skills, which has enabled her to pass her exams. We know she is in a safe environment at Dancesteps and is going to progress to her full potential with the expert tuition”. The yearly show that they produce is spectacular and well worth the wait each year

Fyona has been dancing at Dancesteps since she was 4years old and Olivia since the age of two. Both girls take ballet, tap and ballroom dancing. Fyona also takes part in street Jazz and modern and Olivia does disco and river dance. My daughters both love going to dance and have grown in confidence as a result. Both girls love to perform, whether that be in the house (my living room regularly becomes a dance studio) or in class. The girls love preparing for and performing in the annual dance show - loving both the social and performance aspect of this. It's always a pleasure to watch both girls dance. Fyona and Olivia really enjoy the work and effort that goes into preparing and taking part in dance exams. Fyona has been given a number of opportunities to show case the skills and talents that her teachers Kerry, Emily and Vicki have helped her develop including the chance to take part in a recent dance competition. Fyona and Olivia also love taking part in the annual summer school coming home everyday really excited to go back the next day. I can't thank Kerry, Emily and Vicki enough for helping coach and develop my girls to confident young ladies and love dance as a result.
